Hats off!

02-01-2004: Today, the staff at Stinkweasel want to recognize the ninjas at both NASA and the JPL that have successfully landed two rovers on Mars. Early this morning, Opportunity rolled free of its lander module, and is ready to begin moving.

To pilot two crafts over a hundred million miles through space by remote control, drop them through an alien planet's atmosphere to perfect landings, and then operate the two rovers remotely takes an unimaginable amount of technological skill. It boggles the mind.

Opportunity appears to be fine, and Spirit should be back in tip-top shape soon, as the engineers finish fixing its software glitch. A heartfelt salute! goes to the hundreds, if not thousands, of people that have had their hands in this incredible project.

We'd also like to show our respect for NASA's European counterparts, who have likely lost their rover, Beagle 2, permanently. salute! to the European Space Agency as well.
